Introduction

For my Year 10, Semester 2 history research assignment, I have chosen to investigate the use of Atomic Weaponry by the United States against Japan at the end of World War II. As I am studying U.S. history, the assignment will focus on the United States' roll in the detonation of the two atomic bombs against Japan. My two focus questions for this assignment are:

1. How and why did the United States choose to use atomic power against Japan?

2. What were the repercussions of this decision on the United States and the rest of the World?
